White Hair

Dear First Strand Of White Hair,

I don't know when you grew up. You grew up even before I did. At first, I couldn't see you until my parlour aunty spotted you hiding behind others. I ask why. When you can shine over others, why'd you hide. But that's okay. I understand. You think, I'm ashamed of you. You don't know how proud of you I am, you stupid grown up. You're one of a kind.

Everytime I visit the parlour, parlour aunty tells me to chop you off, but I say no. You're so precious to me. Do you know people don't live enough to have you? I'm lucky to have you. You're a treasure.

Don't worry. Stay there without any stress. It's a safe place. Before you know, you will have a bunch of friends around you. You all will be like a family. You all will rule over my head one day. You being the oldest amongst them will stand out just like you do now. You will be their first generation. They'll look up to you, just like my eyebrows and eyelashes do.
Even the little hair on my upper lips stretches itslef to look at you one last time before bidding goodbye, everytime. I let them grow enough without any shame. I always want them to see you and wave at you before they leave.

You resemble peace, and how on earth can I replace peace with anything else. Hence, you will stay as you are, as beautiful as you are. No highlights, sorry. The sooner you accept this, you'll make it a happy place for yourself and others. Like every cloud has a silver lining, you're mine.

When I look at you in the mirror, I don't think about ageing, I think about growth. I think about the sparkle you've added to my life. In order to shine, you don't even need the sun to bask upon you. You're your own sunshine.

Did I praise you too much? Are you going to act silly now? I will not even know if you're blushing because you have this glow 24/7 whether I oil you or not. However you're feeling, above all, feel secure.

You're a piece of me full of strength and peace. Your gleam keeps flickering, but never dies. That's why it's easy to find you.

My peace
My strength
You're not alone.
We're in this together.

Love,
Saiee

Here We GROW! | Learnings from the book: Free Your Mind

Exactly one year ago, I published a blog: Perks of having nothing to do, where I wrote about the positive side of having absolutely nothing to do. It's a coincidence that this year, we are all having those perks by our side. This year, all of us have switched to the super basic mode of living life. It's strange how difficult it is for most of us to live a simple life. We're not used to this. At the back of our mind, most of us are upset about the situation. Even I am. After a lot of thinking, overthinking, crying, we're all finding our own calm and dealing with this one day at a time. As you must already know, Feeling low in this situation is very natural. Finding the way out of these troublesome thoughts can be a task. For those of us who are struggling to pave our own career path, any kind of hindrance can seem like the sky is falling or the universe is not on our side. Especially when we have so much time in our hands, control over our negative thoughts can go o...

Everyone has a '26th July' Story...

26 July 2005. It's been more than ten years to that day, but whenever it rains heavily in Mumbai, most of us here say "It's raining like 26th July" or "26th July is here again" as if the rain gods have set a benchmark for us. Everyone who stepped out of the house or stayed indoors that day has some story to tell. I've heard three kinds of '26th July' Stories. 1) The absolutely unaffected ones: These were the people who were living far away from flooded areas, the ones who got back home before the deluge happened or the ones who were out of station. 2) Moderately Affected Ones: They had to struggle to get home, some got stuck in office for two days, others were stuck in traffic for one day or were stranded in some public space.Good part was they were safe wherever they were. They managed it somehow and got out of it later. 3) Super Affected Ones: This has a long list, but I'll make it short for you. These were the ones whos...

Perks of Having Nothing To Do

Note: This is a 'straight out of my heart' blog like all my other ones, but I didn't feel like reading it before pressing the 'publish' button. Keeping it real, raw, and simple. Past six months, I have spent most of my time at home because I was extremely sick. During the day, I was either sleeping or thinking whether to sleep less in order to balance my sleep at night. I didn't have enough energy to watch a 5 minute YouTube video till the end. You may wonder what sickness was this. For now, I would like to keep it personal. Because I'm not here to rant. I just want to talk about the fun part of being sick. People suggested I should watch series on Prime and Netflix. I pushed myself and completed a few seasons of Suits. I went ahead and watched 'This is Us' which was emotionally heavy for me. Ohh! And how can I forget 'Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'. But it was all mentally tiring. I read three books: Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck, Dolla...
